With over 20 years of experience in the journalism industry, Yalixa currently serves as General Manager and Editor-in-Chief of GFR Media, Puerto Rico’s leading media company and publisher of El Nuevo Día and Primera Hora. She has built much of her career as a reporter specializing in business and economics, covering key issues shaping the island’s corporate landscape. She also served as Puerto Rico correspondent for Bloomberg News and Business Week.
Before assuming the general management of GFR Media, she served as Deputy Director of El Nuevo Día and previously led the newspaper’s business section. A graduate of the journalism program at the University of the Sacred Heart, she has been recognized for her professional excellence with awards from institutions such as the Overseas Press Club.
