Opportunity Zones

The Federal government wants you to invest your capital gains to impact underdeveloped areas, and nearly 100% of Puerto Rico is a designated Qualified Opportunity Zone. In addition to private capital coming into the island, the post-Hurricane María $42.5 billion in disaster aid allocated by Congress makes opportunity zones in Puerto Rico even more attractive.

Talent availability

Established companies express that one of the main reasons to relocate is the talent, loyalty and work ethic of local employees, plus the fact that they are highly educated and bilingual. Schools such as the University of Puerto Rico's Mayagüez campus are recruiting hotbeds for the likes of NASA, Bank of America, Hewlett Packard and Accenture, making Puerto Rico an engineering and science talent exporter.

Tax & Business Incentives

Act 60 (formerly Puerto Rico Act 20 & 22)

These popular laws create a stable business environment by offering 10-year contracts that allow companies and individuals to plan ahead by knowing what their future tax rates will be. Puerto Rico tax incentives range from 0% tax on dividends, interest or capital gains for individuals to a 4% flat corporate tax rate.

States like Nevada and Florida may have 0% tax rates, but bonafide Puerto Rico residents are exempt from federal taxation.

Puerto Rico is experiencing a boom in industries such as telecom, transportation, logistics and trade, aerospace, energy, infrastructure, bioscience and services (i.e. business consulting, legal, etc.) The island's economic incentives and the quality of its labor force keep international giants such as Lufthansa, Pratt & Whitney and Medtronic growing their local operations.

Living on the Island

Weather
The temperature is an average 80 °F (26 °C) and hurricanes, which are obviously a concern, are predictable and can be planned for. Grupo Ferré Rangel's companies proved that the right planning and full redundancy (water, power & communications) allowed the reestablishment of operations after a devastating category 5 hurricane. Keep in mind that fires, floods, earthquakes or hurricanes are the new normal everywhere. Puerto Rico and its people are well experienced at operating around these challenges.
Resiliency
Through economic downturns and natural disasters, the Island and its people have proven their ability to bounce back and pick up where they left off. This is an ultimate win for an employer seeking a tough, yet smart workforce in a world where natural disasters will abound.
Living & housing
Whether mountains or the beach, Puerto Rico has beauty everywhere. It's up to you whether to live next to the ocean, surrounded by the hustle and bustle of the city or in more secluded environments out in the suburbs.
Outdoors
As long as your sport of choice doesn't need snow, you can continue doing it on the island, YEAR ROUND. Be it running, biking, rock climbing, surfing or jumping from a plane, you can do it all in Puerto Rico.
Medical
Puerto Rico has several U.S. accredited medical schools and, upon graduation, a large number of doctors and nurses get recruited by U.S. medical institutions. We have the best hospitals in the Caribbean and, in 2020, will be opening Dorado Beach Health in conjunction with John Hopkins University.
Schools
Our educational system has United States, European and Internationally accredited schools with English as the primary language. In addition, the best high schools boast high acceptance rates from top colleges seeking students from diverse backgrounds like Puerto Rico's. On top of that, colleges such as the Mayagüez campus of the University of Puerto Rico are renowned players in science and engineering.
Gastronomy, entertainment & culture
Sure, Puerto Rico is the rum capital of the world, but it also has a rich history, a vibrant culture, world-class cuisine, concerts, plays and art exhibits that are a joy to be a part of. Additionally, the island is world-recognized for the music genres and artists it has engendered.
